Here's what some of our very satisfied and happy customers have to say:

"A special shout out to The Sweet Stop for their amazing funnel cakes at my sister's bridal shower this past weekend. They provided all the set up, clean up, and several freshly made mini funnel cakes with an array of toppings! They were a huge hit! Highly recommended for your next party or event. It was a perfect fit for our carnival themed shower. Not to mention the bride to be was super excited to have them as part of her day. Thanks a bunch Al and Liz!!"

"What’s a feast without dessert? The Sweet Stop makes funnel cakes among other delectable delights. You can have them with just powdered sugar or topped with strawberries, whipped cream, or Hershey’s Syrup. If you’re really daring, try their Banana Split Funnel Cake. The funnel cake is the lightest, fluffiest funnel cake I have ever had. It was about 1½” high. The flavor was like if a pancake and a waffle had a baby. It’s got the fluffy, sponginess from a pancake and the crispy, almost malty flavor of a waffle. Thumbs up, way up!"

Fascination with Festival Food
Savory, Sweet and Avocado – the three Avocado Festival food groups

Nathalie Taylor
Special to the Village News

You know how food seems to taste better in the open air – at barbecues, fairs and festivals?  Well, the Fallbrook Avocado Festival is no different.  Several of the festival food vendors are sure to be blue ribbon winners in anyone’s mind.

Sweet – Awesome Funnel Cakes!
The Sweet Stop is true to its name.  This company, owned by Al and Liz Larson of Riverside, has been at the Avocado Festival for six years; and now has two festival locations where they offer funnel cakes, cotton candy, smoothies and fresh-squeezed lemonade, among other goodies.  Their most popular item is Funnel Cake and they find several ways to make these funnel cakes a delight – adding strawberries, whipped cream and the classic powdered sugar...and sometimes topping them with Hershey’s syrup, and caramel.
My grandmother would call this “gilding the lily,” but the Larsons have developed a way to make their funnel cakes even more decadent!  New this year is their Banana Split Funnel Cake that includes classic powdered sugar, a banana, ice cream, strawberries, whipped cream, Hershey's syrup, caramel, nuts…and a cherry on top!

The Sweet Stop does over 125 events a year and Al said that the Avocado Festival is definitely one of their favorites events because of the beautiful city and great people.
